The goal of the Community Organizer is to fundamentally shift the way we respond to youthful and adult wrongdoing from traditionally punitive approaches that cause more harm to restorative approaches that heal and repair harm. The Parent Education Organizer has two primary responsibilities: 1) Work with formerly incarcerated/high need parents and their child/ren using parent education workshops, support groups, and family meetings to support successful community and family reintegration; 2) Lead the implementation and development of YA’s parent empowerment and advocacy model to ensure that parents are deeply engaged in YA’s work and are highly effective advocates for education system reform.
